WEATHER BLOG: Unseasonably Warm To Wintry Weather

Can you believe it? It is the 1st of December and our temperature has already climbed well into the 60s!

The average for this time of year is right around 50 degrees and as of 1 p.m., BWI was checking in at 68 degrees.

Enjoy it while it lasts because big changes move in overnight. Tuesday, highs will be approximately 20 degrees lower (in some areas, even more).

A cold front will cross the area this afternoon into this evening and stall through Tuesday. With high pressure passing by to our north, cold air will be dammed up again the Appalachian mountains as warmer air and precipitation overrun it.

This will set many spots up for a wintry mix of snow, sleet and/or freezing rain Tuesday morning and early afternoon (mainly north and west of the city).
