WEATHER BLOG: Thunderstorms & High Winds

Maryland is in the bullseye for severe t-storm potential Wednesday afternoon and evening.

According to the Storm Prediction Center, there is a 60 percent probability of a watch being issued.

Low-topped storms may strengthen as we head into the latter part of the afternoon. While there is a small threat of hail, the primary threat with this storm system is damaging winds.

The latest radar echos are showing up stronger, which means we may see an uptrend as the storm pushes from west to east across the state, meaning that the line of storms could strengthen and become more linear and organized.

The storm threat will be over by 8 p.m. for central Maryland but wind gusts between 40-50 mph will continue into Thursday. Temperatures will also crash overnight and highs on Thursday will not make it out of the 30s.
