WEATHER BLOG: Sunday
Today will see sunshine returning to region today, leading to a much nicer end to the weekend, at least in appearance. Yesterday wasn't quite as cool as expected, however today will certainly be cooler with northwest winds kicking in and temperatures aloft coming down. Tomorrow will see the high overhead slide to the east and will result in a very similar day to today. Clouds will begin edging in to southern portions of the I-95 corridor by days end however, with moisture in the southeast beginning its march northward.
The moisture set to ride up the east coast is looking more robust than yesterday and the modeling this morning, compared to yesterday morning is significantly different. The global models are latching onto a wetter night across the mid-Atlantic on Monday night, working into northern NJ, NE PA and downstate NY on Tuesday. What previously looked like some drizzle and a few showers now should be a solid swath of rain across the region, and Tuesday looks very dreary and damp overall.
The quicker timing for this disturbance has really opened up Wednesday to be a decent day in its wake, with plenty of clearing. A low pressure system working into the region from the west will be still well of to the west, and the result will be a nice break in the unsettled pattern midweek. That low moves east though on Thursday, and while the low center stays over the Great Lakes, a boundary works through the northeast and bring another round of wet weather, with at least damp conditions lingering into Thursday night. Friday will be another break in the patter between the boundary and the upper trough, which will swing over for the weekend.
