WEATHER BLOG: Stay Safe In Hot Weather

A heat advisory is in effect for the region until 8PM today. Heat index values up to 105 degrees will be possible. The combination of hot temps and high humidity can cause heat-related illnesses.

During this time, remember your hot weather safety rules: Drink plenty of water, avoid strenuous outdoor activity, wear light-colored and light-weight clothing, and take frequent breaks in the shade and air conditioning.

A Code Orange air quality alert is also in effect for today. This means that air pollution concentrations within the region may become unhealthy for sensitive groups including childresn, people suffering from asthma, heart disease, lung disease and the elderly.
