WEATHER BLOG: Snow Coming

Well, in about 30 hours we expect to see snow breaking out across the region as an area of low pressure comes up the eastern seaboard.

These types of storms can bring plenty of moisture with them and it looks like that will likely be the case here. The big question is exactly where the heaviest of the precipitation falls and also if any warmer air can be brought in from the Atlantic Ocean which would make sleet and even rain a real possibility in some areas.

At this point it appears the heaviest snow will fall from the Blue Ridge thru north central Maryland to the north and west of the Baltimore Metro. For the city I would expect to see 6 to perhaps 10 or 12" of snow. More than that is possible about 30 miles N/W of the Beltway. If that does occur it would be our biggest storm of the year without question and a major disruption to travel and all activities. There can still be small or even greater changes in the placement of the storm and the areas of heaviest precip, so please stay tuned for further updates throughout this event.
