WEATHER BLOG: No April Fools
There's just no "foolin" when we point out that many temperatures overnight have been no lower than the 60s -- and many folks are waking up on this April 1st to readings which represent what daytime highs should be like by the end of this month... However, as 'balmy' as yesterday was and today will also be, there's an ugly twist headed our way this weekend... We still anticipate a change to much colder air by Sunday, and parts of the Northeast will even witness some wet snow during the next five days... There are two opportunities which we've identified for the northern tier of counties in Pennsylvania, portions of New York, New Jersey and in most of New England...
The first chance for a small, slushy accumulation of wet snow will come late on Saturday night into early Sunday... Only the higher terrain well to the north of Maryland has a realistic shot of picking up 2 inches or more... But nonetheless, a fairly potent shortwave disturbance will be dragging a cold front through the Eastern Region, and it will be unleashing gusty winds and unseasonably cold air Sunday... Daytime temperatures around here, even despite some sun, will hard-pressed to get above 50 on Sunday -- this coming on the heels of having such warm weather late this week, and even temperatures tomorrow will still manage to reach the 60s in most places...
