WEATHER BLOG: Nice Now, But Rain Later

After a nice day Wednesday, low pressure will spread some showers and a few thunderstorms across the region in the evening and linger into Thursday morning.

Rain will move into the Appalachians later Wednesday afternoon, but the I-95 corridor will see the "main event" of rainfall overnight while most of us are sleeping.

Rainfall amounts should average 0.25" to 0.5" with locally higher amounts possible in thunderstorms. We will be cooler behind the storm Thursday with highs only reaching in the mid/upper 70s.

Some peaks of sunshine can be expected during the afternoon as a high pressure system builds across the Great Lakes region and into the Northeast.

The weekend is still on track to feature no less than partly sunny skies with afternoons progressively getting warmer in the low and mid 80s.
