WEATHER BLOG: Heavy Rain Pushes East

There is a tremendous amount of warm and humid air along the Atlantic Seaboard this morning, and its just waiting to be tapped into by a potent cold front approaching from the west.

Rain, heavy at times can be expected as this line of activity traverses the region. A flood watch is in effect from 10AM - 8PM Wednesday for the Baltimore and DC metros, along with southern Baltimore, Montgomery, Howard, PG and Anne Arundel counties.

The atmosphere is capable of precipitating anywhere from 1-3" of rainfall which may cause flooding… particularly for low-lying and poor drainage areas, along with areas prone to flooding. The leading edge of this line of storms may produce some gusty and damaging winds as well as lightning.

Things will calm down and taper off tonight. A few residual showers can be expected Thursday… but overall improvement in the forecast for tomorrow.
