WEATHER BLOG: Heat & Storms

We are following 2 big weather stories today, the first is the heat and the second is our risk for strong to severe storms.

Let's start with the heat:

A heat advisory is in effect for portions of the region, including the I-95 corridor from DC to Baltimore, now until 7PM this evening. The combination of high temperatures and high humidity will create heat index values in the 100-110 degree range. Be sure to limit your time outside this afternoon, wear light weight and loose fitting clothing and drink plenty of water.

We also have a risk for severe t-storms this afternoon and evening:

The Storm Prediction Center has central Maryland under the "Enhanced Risk" category for severe storms. The main modes of severe weather include damaging winds, large hail and the potential for an isolated tornado. Heavy downpours and localized flash-flooding will also be possible with any t-storm that does develop. The most likely window for storms will be between 3PM & 8PM today.
