WEATHER BLOG: Gray & Damp

Yesterday's clouds and fog did manage to break for limited sunshine, but not enough to warm things up as much as we had anticipated. We'll take another shot at cracking the 80-degree mark today with morning clouds, areas of dense fog and also some drizzle giving way to partial sunshine. The southeasterly wind this morning will eventually be turning more towards the south, and we have a small chance of getting a shower or some rumbles of thunder this afternoon.

We don't want to 'play up' any kind of shower or t-storm later this afternoon too much, because the real drenching is going to get underway late tonight, and it will last well into tomorrow. In fact, a Flash Flood Watch has already been posted, and it will run from midnight tonight until 6 p.m. tomorrow for most of the area.

Temperatures tomorrow with the pockets of rain heavy enough to cause flooding will be hard-pressed to get out of the 60s, and the axis of rich moisture with a true tropical connection will then begin to pivot to the north and east late on Friday night.
