WEATHER BLOG: Flurries Moving Through

We have a rather nice, quiet period of weather through Monday. We'll see the chance for a few flurries in the city Sunday evening, but they won't amount to anything. Overnight, clouds will be breaking and the mercury will be dropping with some pretty good radiational cooling conditions setting up late. Suburbs to the north and west may drop into the single digits.

Then we have the next storm to deal with. As has been the case so far this winter, it doesn't matter if it is a southern stream system loaded with moisture or a northern stream system with plenty of upper-level support... it finds a way to snow! And we do not feel that this one will be any different. It looks like a pretty typical inch or two forecast with some sleet and possibly freezing rain and rain. We will likely see it move in Monday night, an hour or two before midnight. It should be all gone by Tuesday morning, however, there will likely be some issues with the Tuesday early morning commute.

We will have to watch for black ice for much of the morning over this forecast period as afternoon melting re-freezes with temps dropping near the freezing mark. Otherwise, the extended period brings high temps in the 50s to near 60 degrees starting Wednesday through Friday!
