WEATHER BLOG: Cooler Weather Today

There are some stratocumulous clouds around the region right now and they will likely stick around for a while. We have tweaked the wording of the sky cover forecast somewhat for this afternoon to allow for these patchy clouds. Even with the dry ground and getting more from the 850mb temps than the standard dry adiabatic lapse rate, we are likely to struggle to get much past 70 this afternoon. The northwestern parts of the region will almost certainly stay in the 60s this afternoon. We have also had some pretty gusty winds so far today. BWI has gusted to 32mph and annapolis gusted to 31mph. Those winds will die down fairly quickly tonight as high pressure builds in.
