WEATHER BLOG: Calm Continues

The weather has certainly been treating us 'more kindly' lately, and this overall trend is expected to continue for much of the next few days. First, let's break down today. This crisp and cool air mass, which is rather unusual for mid-July, is going to eventually become modified during the next 36 hours, and the tendencies for a light and variable wind later today to become easterly or southeasterly late tonight and tomorrow will bring some Atlantic moisture into the coastal cities.

Highs this afternoon should be mostly in the lower 80s, based on the fact that there'll be a fair amount of sunshine. Then, we'll have to be on the lookout for increasing clouds tonight... Most lows will be in the 60s, except in those typically cooler spots well inland (which may also remain clear for much of the night).

Tomorrow, areas of low clouds should break for some sun, especially from mid-morning on, and the temperature will wind up in the 80s... We can envision where it stays cloudier, and it fails to get out of the 70s at the Eastern Shore, though... That low pressure system I alluded to earlier is showing up on our weather charts Sunday morning east of the Jersey Shore (by about 150 miles), so it is something that can't be completely ignored, even if it isn't going to produce rain along the I-95 corridor this weekend. Temperatures on Sunday will probably be no higher than the low 80s, and we'll need to keep a watchful eye out for a brief and spotty shower or t-storm on Sunday afternoon, especially north and west of Baltimore.
