WEATHER BLOG: A Wild Day Of Weather

It has been a day of wild weather to say the least! We had the perfect set-up today for heavy rain with a very juicy air mass along with high dewpoints and p-wat values. We also had a continuous feed of moisture coming in from the southeast coupled with an unusually strong low pressure system moving through the northern Great Lakes region and a triple point low forming somehwere in Virginia. You could say that the stars almost aligned making today Baltimore's 2nd wettest day in history! As of this writing, BWI-Marshall airport checked in at 6.27" of rainfall for the day which set a new record for August 12th. This puts us at nearly a foot above average for the year as far as precipitation is concerned. Some t-storms will move through tonight but things will wind down by tomorrow morning. Other than a lingering shower east of I-95, clouds will begin to break and sunshine will return by Wednesday afternoon.
