WEATHER BLOG: A Nice Taste Of Spring

We've had a good deal of sunshine Sunday afternoon, however cooler with a brisk wind compared to what we experienced Saturday. A disturbance moving by to the north Sunday night will result in a warm front passing through overnight and winds shifting out of the southwest. Along with the wind shift, we expect to see more clouds. The southwest flow will usher in mild air for Monday and Tuesday bringing us a nice taste of spring for many people who may still be wondering exactly when winter is going to end!

The taste of warmth will not last beyond Tuesday as a fast moving storm system will arrive on Wednesday with rain overspreading the viewing area. It will pull a colder air mass in behind it as it tracks east allowing for some areas to mix with or even change over to snow. At this point, it looks like the bulk of the precipitation will fall as rain in the city leading to little or no snowfall accumulation, but we will have to watch this system carefully as it evolves. The heaviest snowfall accumulations are expected to fall north of Maryland at this time.
