Walters Art Museum Raises $30 Million For Endowment

BALTIMORE (AP) -- The Walters Art Museum has raised $30 million in its Sharing the Gift fundraising campaign.

Walters board of trustees president Ellen N. Bernard said in a news release Tuesday that the campaign was launched in 2008 and raised money for endowment and operations.

Revenue from endowment makes up a third of the museum's annual operating budget. Bernard says through contributions to the campaign, market growth and financial management, the museum increased its endowment to $118.5 million in December.

The Waters' collection includes ancient art, medieval art and manuscripts, decorative objects, Asian art and Old Master and 19th century paintings.
