Visitation Being Held For Man Shot In Alleged Shooting Spree

GAITHERSBURG, Md. (AP) — A visitation is being held for a Maryland man who police say died while trying to help a woman being carjacked by a man now charged with three murders.

In a statement, the Catholic Church says a visitation for Malcom Winffel is being held from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church in Gaithersburg. A funeral is scheduled for Thursday.

Winffel was fatally shot Friday in the parking lot of a Bethesda mall.

Police say he was shot by 62-year-old Eulalio Tordil, who was apparently attempting to carjack a woman after fatally shooting his wife Thursday. The woman and another man were also wounded. Tordil allegedly fatally shot another woman a short while later while apparently attempting another carjacking.
