Victim's Family Condemning Adnan Syed's Push For New Trial

BALTIMORE (WJZ) -- Adnan Syed, a convicted killer and the subject of the hit podcast Serial, heads back to court Monday. Now the victim's family is condemning his push for a new trial.

Syed is serving a life sentence for the 1999 murder of his ex-girlfriend Hae Min Lee.

According to WJZ media partner The Baltimore Sun, Lee's family says his hearing for a new trial has "reopened wounds few can imagine."

Syed's lawyers are calling for a retrial based on new evidence in the case.
