Va. Appeals Court Denies Rehearing In U.Va. Slaying

RICHMOND, Va. (AP) -- Attorneys for a former University of Virginia lacrosse player convicted of killing his ex-girlfriend have been denied a rehearing on his appeal.

Attorneys for George W. Huguely V now say they are considering other options, including an appeal to the Virginia Supreme Court. They had sought a full hearing before the Court of Appeals of Virginia, but that was rejected. His conviction was affirmed in March.

Huguely is serving a 23-year prison term in Virginia for the May 2010 beating death of Yeardley Love, a 22-year-old from suburban Baltimore.

Huguely's appeal was based on several issues related to his 2012 trial in Charlottesville. They included questions about jury selection and the absence of one of his attorneys when she fell ill during the trial.

Huguely is from Chevy Chase, Md.
