Under Armour Gives Some Baltimore Students New Uniforms

BALTIMORE (WJZ) -- Under Armour and the Ravens are teaming up to make good on a promise to Baltimore high school athletes. Wednesday, designers unveiled brand new uniforms.

Gigi Barnett explains it's a generous gift to make the young athletes look and play well.

On and off the field, this is a winning look: newly-designed uniforms for all of the city's boys' football and girls' basketball teams, courtesy of the Ravens and Baltimore-based Under Armour.

"I think it's kind of cool," said Jayda Pearson, Baltimore Polytechnic student. "I like it."

Designers spent the last year working with students and coaches at all of Baltimore's 24 high schools. This week, they unveiled the threads at Under Armour's headquarters.

"They were a little similar. The material, I think, is a little different," said basketball coach Stephanie West.

"They're really expensive and we have no money in the city so this helps us out tremendously," said Rashad Robinson.

Former Ravens linebacker Ray Lewis knows about wearing the uniform. He says a new look brings a new attitude to the field and beyond.

"You look good, you play good," he said.

While the Ravens and Under Armour designers focused on boys' football and girls' basketball this go round, they say they may expand the uniform program to other city team sports in the future.

Under Armour says it's giving students brand new uniforms for home and away games.
