U.S. Grand Jury Indicts Western Md. Lawyer In Bank Fraud Case
BALTIMORE (AP) -- A federal grand jury in Baltimore has indicted a western Maryland lawyer on charges of conspiracy and bank fraud stemming from a series of property sales.
Oakland attorney Angela Blythe said Friday she will plead not guilty to the charges against her.
The four-count indictment alleges Blythe acted as a settlement attorney for fraudulent real estate transactions allegedly perpetrated by Samuel VanSickle in western Maryland and West Virginia from 2001 to 2005.
VanSickle was indicted in February along with Lewis Strosnider, who pleaded guilty in August to bank fraud conspiracy. VanSickle has pleaded not guilty and is scheduled for trial in March.
The indictment seeks forfeiture of $1.7 million in alleged proceeds from the alleged scheme.
