Police said an officer found her suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. She died at the scene.

Investigators believe the shooting was the result of an argument. They added that they started getting information almost immediately, and have identified a person of interest.

On Twitter, the radio station said they were "heartbroken" by her death.

"WEAA offers condolences and prayers to the family of our beloved Tyra Phillips (Womack). We are heartbroken about her passing and remember her beautiful, gentle, sweet spirit today. Tyra was heard on Sunday's Gospel Grace programs for many years at WEAA," the station tweeted.

Members of Phillips' church said her family is heartbroken.

"They're devastated, she has a son, beautiful young man - their whole family, their mom... just to see her tears, just to see her weep... because this was a senseless act," Kimberly Showell, Administrative Pastor at First Apostolic Faith Church, said.

Phillips was an active member of First Apostolic Faith Church. She served as a church announcer for several years.

"When you saw Tyra, you saw her smile. She had these beautiful dimples, and she was just a delight. Just very easy going," Showell said.

One neighbor, who asked to remain anonymous, said Phillips will be missed.

"Tyra was just... she was awesome. She was fabulous, she was understanding, she was gentle, she was spiritual," the neighbor said.

Police are asking anyone with information to contact them immediately.
