Two Fatal Stabbings In Baltimore Sunday

BALTIMORE (WJZ) -- Two fatal stabbings were reported Sunday in Baltimore.

According to police, the first was reported around 12:07 p.m. in southwest Baltimore.

Stepson Charged In 59-Year-Old Baltimore Man's Murder

Officers responded to the 2900 block of Brighton Street to investigate the report, when they found a 59-year-old man identified as Preston Merritt suffering from stab wounds.

Merritt was taken to an area hospital. but was pronounced dead a short time after his arrival.

Detectives learned Merritt was involved in an argument with a family member.

Merritt's 27-year-old stepson was found sitting next to him with a knife in his hand.

He was disarmed by police and taken into custody.

Gregory Brown was charged with first-degree murder.

Woman Charged With Murder In Fatal Weekend Stabbing

Within two hours, another fatal stabbing.

This time officers responded to the 1600 block of Bruce Court around 1:41 p.m. where they found a 27-year-old man suffering from stab wounds.

He was also taken to an area hospital where he died.

Homicide detectives investigating the fatal stabbing arrested and charged 28-year-old Jasmin Thomas as a suspect in the incident.
