Suspect Arrested After Police Say Family Argument Leads To Deadly Triple Shooting In Rosedale, 8-Year-Old Injured

ROSEDALE, Md. (WJZ) -- Two adults were killed and an eight-year-old child was injured in a shooting in Rosedale on Wednesday night.

Police have arrested a suspect in connection with the shooting, but have not yet released their identity.

The incident happened in the 5500 block of Lanham Way around 11 p.m.

Police said the adults were shot in the upper body, while the child was shot in the lower body.

All three were taken to an area hospital where the two adults later died.

The child, eight-year-old Ka'niyah Watlington, suffered a non-fatal injury, police said Thursday. Her mother told police she is in stable condition.

The two people killed were identified as 42-year-old Nyatiaha Faltz and 19-year-old Grantley Herbert.

Police believe the shooting stems from an argument that happened during a family gathering.

"When the officers arrived on the scene they found three people suffering from gunshot wounds," Joy Stewart, Baltimore County Police Director of Public Affairs, said. "This appears to be an isolated incident that was the result of a domestic-related argument."

Neighbors said they were shocked to hear about the shooting.

"Things like this don't happen around here," a local resident told WJZ.

"It's a nice neighborhood," Kenneth Ewell, a local resident, said. "I never hear about murders or nothing around here."

Homicide detectives are actively conducting their investigation at this time. If you have any information about this case, please call Baltimore County Police at 410-307-2020.

Editor's Note: Police originally believed the child victim to be nine-years-old. They have since updated their information that the child is eight, not nine. The story has been updated.
