Escobar Leads Twins, Berrios To 6-4 Win Over Orioles

MINNEAPOLIS (AP) — Eduardo Escobar's two-run triple highlighted a six-run third inning as the Minnesota Twins rallied for 6-4 win over the Baltimore Orioles on Thursday night.

Jose Berrios (8-2) gave up four runs and seven hits in six innings. Tyler Duffey, Taylor Rogers and Brandon Kintzler each pitched a scoreless inning with Kintzler getting his 23rd save.

Escobar, Byron Buxton and Jason Castro each had two hits as Minnesota beat Baltimore for the fifth straight time dating back to last season. Escobar is now hitting .371 since June 4 and .431 in his last 13 home games.

Mark Trumbo hit a two-run homer in the second to get the Orioles on the scoreboard first.

Minnesota then went ahead with their big inning, getting run-scoring hits from its Nos. 3-4-5 hitters. Miguel Sano had an RBI single with the bases loaded against Dylan Bundy (8-8) and Max Kepler followed with his two-run single to put the Twins ahead 3-2.

Escobar followed with his line drive that caromed off the right-field scoreboard and rolled away from Seth Smith. After a walk to Eddie Rosario, Jorge Polanco grounded into a run-scoring fielder's choice.

Bundy (8-8) gave up all six runs — a season high — and five hits in five innings as Baltimore lost its fourth straight and saw it's record drop to a season-worst five games below .500 (40-45).

Berrios worked with men on base most of the night but limited the damage nicely after Trumbo's homer. The Orioles slugger was up again in the third with the bases loaded but grounded out to short to end the inning.

Baltimore also had the bases loaded in the seventh against Duffey, but Trey Mancini grounded out to short.

The Orioles had been second in the American League, hitting .288 with men in scoring position when the night began. They scored single runs in the fourth and sixth innings on an RBI groundout and sacrifice fly.

Escobar played third base and Sano played first with Joe Mauer out of the lineup due to back spasms.
