Police: Trooper Hurt In Crash, 2nd Driver Charged With DUI

WEST OCEAN CITY, Md. (AP) — A Maryland state trooper was injured in a crash and police say the driver of the other vehicle involved is facing a drunken driving charge.

Media outlets report that the crash happened Saturday night on U.S. Route 50 in West Ocean City. Maryland State Police say a westbound Toyota RAV4 made a left turn onto Elm Street into the path of the trooper's eastbound cruiser.

Police say the trooper was treated at Atlantic General Hospital and released, but the driver of the RAV4, 64-year-old Kathleen West of West Ocean City, and her two passengers were not injured. The trooper's cruiser was extensively damaged.

Police charged West with driving under the influence, failure to yield the right of way and other traffic offenses.
