Trimble Named Big Ten Conference Co-Player Of The Week

Maryland sophomore guard Melo Trimble was named Big Ten Conference Co-Player of the Week.

It is the second Big Ten weekly honor for Trimble and the first for a Terrapin this season.

Trimble scored a season-high 25 points to lift the Terps past UConn in the Jimmy V Classic at Madison Square Garden on Tuesday night.

The Upper Marlboro, Md., native notched a 14-for-15 performance from the charity stripe and is only the second player to pick up 15 or more free throw attempts against the Huskies since 2010. The Terps are 17-1 when Trimble gets to the line at least seven times.

Trimble also scored a team-high 18 points on 5-of-6 shooting, including a 4-of-4 output from beyond the three-point line, and dished out four assists against just one turnover in 28 minutes of action versus Maryland-Eastern Shore on Saturday.

Maryland – which is 9-1 on the year - heads to Baltimore for a game against Princeton on Saturday at Royal Farms Arena at 7 p.m.
