Trial Begins In Baltimore Bed-and-Breakfast Double Shooting

BALTIMORE (AP) -- Three years after a fatal double shooting occurred outside a Baltimore bed-and-breakfast, the trial has begun for the man charged in the slayings.

The Baltimore Sun reports that 28-year-old Quinton Bass from North Carolina is being tried in Baltimore Circuit Court. Bass is charged with killing 40-year-old Alex Ulrich and 56-year-old Larry Peterson, who died nearly two years after the August 2012 shooting in the Mount Vernon neighborhood.

Ulrich and Peterson were sitting outside Peterson's bed-and-breakfast with another man around 4 a.m. when authorities say Bass and another person tried to rob them.

Police say the men did not have any money to give the would-be robbers, and Bass fired at the men.

Ulrich died that morning. Peterson was shot several times and seriously wounded. He died in May 2014.
