Travis Thomas: Top Ten Greatest Super Bowls For Millennials Of All Time

Have you picked up a magazine, or clicked on an article online recently and noticed that every other topic is about millennials? Everything we consume from the clothes we buy to the food we eat is advertised and millennial consumer based driven. Even some of our Governmental policies were spearheaded and finalized with the millennial generation in mind. Depending on who you ask millennials are people who were born between 1981 and 1999. Some publications even suggest that the age range is a bit broader 1977 and 1992. Either way you slice it, I'm a proud millennial. Some of us get a bad wrap, debt issues, Mommy & Daddy dependency, Baby Mama Drama, etc. There are sub categories for all of us within the millennial community. I happen to consider myself in the "Taxpaying, Hard-Working, Professional, Living-Paycheck-To-Paycheck Working Class Poor" category. Nonetheless when it comes to sports we are either die hard or not interested at all. So I decided to do something about it personally. I wanted to create something for my millennials who are both die hard and casual sports fans. EVERYBODY watches the Super Bowl. As we know, there are games that are less interesting due to blowout final scores. At the same time there are games that are epic due to several key factors. Everything from commercials to the halftime entertainment, leads changing hands multiple times in the fourth quarter, signature plays that you'll be telling your grand kids about, all time great quarterbacks going head to head, the Coaching carousal of stars, no name dudes making a name for themselves, and even the host cities and all that come with them. I believe this Super Bowl will fall into that epic category. You will have to listen to the Travis Thomas Experience on 105.7 The Fan every Sunday night from 9pm-Midnight to get my predictions on the big game. But in the meantime in-between time, feel free to sit back, relax and check out the Top Ten Greatest Super Bowls For Millennials Of All Time. In true millennial fashion, I get right to the point starting with number one. Blame the attention span of my generation.

1. Super Bowl XLII - New York Giants 17, New England Patriots 14 (2008)

David Tyree's catch! Need I say more? The unbeatable, undefeated, unstoppable Patriots were straight up dominated by the Giants front four.

2. Super Bowl XXXIV - St. Louis Rams 23, Tennessee Titans 16 (2000)

Boring game for the most part until the Titans' came back from a 16-point deficit and where within just a yard of tying the game as time expired.

3. Super Bowl XXIII - San Francisco 49ers 20, Cincinnati Bengals 16 (1989)

I was only 8 years old. I have no memory of this game except seeing the Joe Montana to John Taylor game-winner over and over again and my Parents worshiping Joe Montana.

4. Super Bowl XLVII - Baltimore Ravens 34, San Francisco 49ers 31 (2013)

Power outage, Beyoncé, and a 22 point second half swing. I still think Michael Crabtree was interfered with on the 4th down to end the game. However the 49ers play calling and late game management is more to blame than the refs. Ray Lewis goes out on top.

5. Super Bowl XXV - New York Giants 20, Buffalo Bills 19 (1991 Whitney Houston)

Another Super Bowl that's foggy in my memory. I was 10 years old but the two things I remember vividly is Whitney Houston signing the National Anthem and the Scott Norwood "Wide Right" missed field goal. Laces out Finkle!

6. Super Bowl XXXII - Denver Broncos 31, Green Bay Packers 24 (1998)

As a kid I had watched John Elway be called the greatest QB of all time. But that elusive Super Bowl still haunted him. I remember thinking he would lose another one against the new gunslinger on the block: Brett Favre. But Elway showed a lot of grit with "The Helicopter" run and Terrell Davis running wild didn't hurt.

7. Super Bowl XLIII - Pittsburgh Steelers 27, Arizona Cardinals 23 (2009)

This game was filled with emotion. I just remember thinking down the stretch I had no idea who was going to win. James Harrison and Larry Fitzgerald traded big plays. No play was bigger than the Santonio Holmes catch to win it.

8. Super Bowl XLV - Green Bay Packers 31, Pittsburgh Steelers 25 (2011)

As a resident Steelers hater, all week all we heard was how the Steelers were going to win this game. Aaron Rodgers hot postseason would come to an end, and Big Ben and that Steeler defense would rise again! But in the end Aaron Rodgers would write his name in history and establish himself as a new age All-Timer.

9. Super Bowl XXXVIII - New England Patriots 32, Carolina Panthers 29 (2004)

I was in college at this time (like the next Super Bowl on this list) so please forgive me for not having any vivid memory. Anybody who had a great time in college knows there are moments that went up in smoke (pun intended). I just remember Tom Brady's mastery late and Janet Jackson "Oops" moment at halftime. That sobered me up big time! Shout out to Timberlake.

10. Super Bowl XXXVI - New England Patriots 20, St. Louis Rams 17 (2002)

Also a college moment so I'm sorry for some lapses in memory. I woke up the next day after this game in a very precarious situation (call my show and I will explain). "Spygate" taints this game, but this was one for the ages. The Rams were the "Greatest Show On Turf" and maybe the most exciting team to watch ever. Brady ended all that with a heartbreaking drive at the end to set up the game winning field goal.
