Trash Truck Crashes Into Abingdon Home

ABINGDON, Md. (WJZ) — A trash truck crashed into a home in Harford County Monday.

Chopper 13 was over the scene Monday where a Waste Management Industries trash truck was driven into a home in the 700 block Royal Mile Drive in Abingdon.

Hazmat was requested for leaking saddle tanks and other potential hazards. A Technical Rescue Team was also requested due to major damage to the home.

An investigation shows that the driver, 36-year-old Matthew Heckrotte may have suffered a medical episode which caused him to run the truck into the side of the unoccupied home.

Heckrotte was taken to Bayview Medical Center for medical treatment.
