Towson Knocks Off Northeastern 79-70

BOSTON (AP) -- Rafriel Guthrie scored 21 points as Towson knocked off Northeastern 79-70 on Thursday.

The Tigers shot 54 percent from the floor and made 20 of 22 free throws. Mike Burwell added 19 points while Timajh Parker-Rivera and Marcus Damas had 13 points apiece.

Northeastern (9-19, 6-8, Colonial Athletic Conference) was down four with 1:23 left in the first half, but scored the final seven points, including David Walker's dunk, to lead 34-31 at the break.

Towson (19-9, 10-3) came roaring back after intermission. Rafriel Guthrie scored nine of Towson's first 11 points in the half to give the Tigers a 42-41 lead. The teams were tied at 66 with 2:35 left, but Towson closed on an 11-4 run, including 9 of 9 from the line, to escape with the win.

T.J. Williams led Northeastern with 17 points and Scott Eatherton had 15 points and nine boards.
