Tour Bus Destroyed By Engine Fire On I-68 In Western Md.

KEYSERS RIDGE, Md. (AP) -- State police say all five people aboard a private tour bus survived a fire that destroyed the vehicle on Interstate 68 in western Maryland.

Cpl. Jeremy Smith says all lanes were closed for about two hours Tuesday while volunteer firefighters battled the blaze. The fire was reported at 11:15 a.m. near Keysers Ridge.

Smith says the bus was traveling east, from Illinois to Pennsylvania.

He says the driver noticed the engine fire and pulled onto the shoulder behind a state trooper who was investigating an unrelated crash. The trooper tried in vain to extinguish the blaze with a fire extinguisher before firefighters arrived.
