Thousands Without Power In Mid-Atlantic Area

WASHINGTON (AP) -- Utility crews are working to restore power to thousands of customers in the Mid-Atlantic region after strong storms moved through the area.

As of 1 p.m. Wednesday, Baltimore Gas and Electric reported about 9,000 Maryland customers without service, while Potomac Edison was reporting more than 22,000 customers without power in Maryland.

Pepco was reporting a total of about 2,000 customers without power in Montgomery County, Prince George's County and the District of Columbia.

Dominion Power was reporting about 700 customers without power in northern Virginia.
