Thousands Without Power In Metro Area

WASHINGTON (AP) -- Thousands of customers in Maryland and Virginia are without power after strong storms moved through the Washington metro area.

As of 8:30 p.m. Tuesday, Pepco was reporting some 29,000 customers in Montgomery County without power. The power company's website says another 3,600 customers are without power in Prince George's County and more than 300 customers are without power in the District of Columbia.

In northern Virginia, Dominion Power was reporting more than 36,000 customers without power.

In Maryland, Potomac Edison was reporting more than 17,000 customers without power in Frederick County, 15,000 in Allegany County, 11,000 in Washington County and 8,000 in Garrett County.
