Thousands Gather Ahead Of Preakness Weekend

BALTIMORE (WJZ)--Early this morning at Pimlico-- Kentucky Derby winner American Pharoah made his way to the track for a morning workout.

American Pharoah is the favorite to win the Preakness Stakes tomorrow, but the fun starts today with an event all about the ladies!

The Preakness eve celebration draws tens of thousands of people dressed in their finest, with a drink in hand.

A full day of racing that includes the Black Eyed Susan Stakes -- a mile and one-eighth test for three-year-old fillies. It draws some of the best in the world.

Black Eyed Susan Day -- which keeps growing in popularity-- gets Preakness Weekend started on the right track.

"We enjoy of course the comradery of hanging out with friends, but more importantly, there's a rich history of the Preakness here in Maryland."
