The Case of Fells Point Run-Over Victim Ruled a Mistrial

BALTIMORE (WJZ)-- The trial  of a man charged with assault for running over a woman with his vehicle in Fells Point, ended in a mistrial, according to the Baltimore Sun.

The jurors deliberated for only a day. The footage of Orlando Reed, 39, showed his vehicle reversing onto a sidewalk injuring Jillian Vaccaro who suffered serious injuries.

The Sun reports prosecutors told jurors that Redd consciously initiated a series of confrontations and was in control of his actions, while Redd's defense attorney said he was frantically trying to flee a fight and intended no harm.

Redd remains in jail without bail on charges of first-degree assault, two counts of second-degree assault, malicious destruction of property, and several traffic charges.

Judge Brooke M. Murdock dismissed one count of first-degree assault related to Vaccaro. The other assault charges relate to a man who Redd punched.
