19-Year-Old Shot In Arm Outside Baltimore Giant On July 4th
BALTIMORE (WJZ) -- A 19-year-old man is recovering after he was shot following a dispute in a Giant grocery store in north Baltimore Thursday.
Officers responded to the 601 block of East 33rd Street in the Waverly neighborhood around 10:10 a.m. for a report of a shooting.
There they found a 19-year-old man suffering from a gunshot wound to his forearm.
"Fourth of July, everybody's supposed to be happy and be with their family," said Thomas Williams. "It's real scary."
Witnesses told police the man was parked outside the Giant waiting on family that was checking out when he got into a dispute over being asked to move his car. He did not move the car and instead, an unknown man shot him.
"It's normal now. It's normal to hear people getting shot. It's normal to hear people getting killed," Robert Pearl said.
The victim ran into the store for help. He was taken to an area hospital with a non-life threatening injury.
"When I pulled up, my eyes got big. I was wondering why the parking lot was so empty on the fourth. Usually, everyone's trying to get hot dog buns, you know what I mean?" said Desean Graham.
The 33rd Street Giant was closed for more than three hours Thursday, reopening just before 2 p.m.
