Teen Shot Near Baltimore Co. Elementary School

HALETHORPE, Md. (WJZ)—A teenage boy is hospitalized Saturday night after police say he was shot near an elementary school in Baltimore County.

The incident happened just after 4:00 p.m. in the 4200 block of Annapolis Road.

Upon arrival to the scene, police say they located a teenage boy suffering gunshot wounds to the lower body on the west side of Oak Road north of Virginia Avenue. He was transported to an area hospital and is expected to survive.

Further investigation revealed that the victim was approached by a suspect on the basketball courts at Baltimore Highlands Elementary School. Police say when the victim was somewhere between the basketball courts and the school, the suspect shot him once.

Investigators are searching for a suspect and working to determine the cause of the shooting.
