Teen Girl Killed, Mother Injured In Eastern Shore Crash

MARION STATION, Md. (AP) -- Maryland state police say a teenage girl was killed and her mother was critically injured after a box truck hit their car from behind and pushed it into the path of an ongoing vehicle.

The crash occurred Friday afternoon in Marion Station, in Somerset County on the lower Eastern Shore. Police say 15-year-old Andrea Joyner of Crisfield was killed. Her mother, 38-year-old Patricia Joyner, was flown to Maryland Shock Trauma Center in Baltimore.

The driver and a passenger in the truck weren't seriously hurt. The driver of the other vehicle was hospitalized with non-life-threatening injuries.

Police say alcohol wasn't involved in the crash. No charges have been filed. Police say after their investigation is over, Somerset County prosecutors will decide whether to pursue charges.
