Teen Boy Killed In I-95 Accident Was Baltimore Rabbi's Son

BALTIMORE (WJZ) -- The teen boy who died in a mult-car pileup on I-95 in Prince George's County Tuesday night was a Baltimore Rabbi's son.

WJZ has learned that 45-year-old Tamara Moskowitz and 13-year-old Moshe Moskowitz were returning home from Dulles Airport in Virginia, where they had just dropped off the family's older daughter for a trip to Israel.

Officers say just after 9 p.m., a Honda Pilot was reported disabled in the roadway near the exit for Maryland Route 200.

As a Dodge Caravan being driven by Tamara Moskowitz approached the Honda, a tractor-trailer struck the back of the van and caused the accident that also involved a Volkswagen.

Moshe Moskowitz died in the crash and his mother was critically injured.

Moshe was an 8th grader at Baltimore's Talmudic Academy where his father, Doniel Moskowitz, serves as Rabbi, according to WUSA-9 in D.C.

Moshe Moskowitz was the youngest person to participate in the 170-mile Bike4Chai challenge in August, which raises money for seriously ill pediatric patients and their families.

The crash is under investigation, but police say there was no indication of impairment at the time of the investigation.

Northbound I-95 was closed for about 5 hours during the investigation.
