Man Charged With Fatally Shooting Ex-Girlfriend

GERMANTOWN, Md. (AP) -- Montgomery County Police say a Hagerstown man shot his ex-girlfriend after she left a pickup truck during an argument and shot her again as she lay on the ground.

Officers say the woman, 24-year-old Mariam Folashade Abebayo of Germantown, died at a hospital, and her ex-boyfriend is charged with killing her.

Authorities received numerous 911 calls about 7:30 p.m. Monday. Police say witnesses saw two people fighting in a truck in the parking lot in front of Target in a shopping center in Germantown.

Officers say 27-year-old Donald Wayne Bricker Jr. shot Abebayo twice and fled in the truck. After spotting the vehicle, police gave chase.

Investigators say after Bricker's truck crashed, he was arrested and taken to a hospital. Police say he is charged with first-degree murder.
