Symphony Moves Free Concert To Kennedy Center

WASHINGTON (AP) -- The National Symphony Orchestra is moving its annual Labor Day weekend concert inside to the Kennedy Center due to the weather, instead of performing on the Capitol lawn.

The orchestra will perform Sunday evening at the Kennedy Center Concert Hall. The concert is still free to the public. It begins at 8 p.m.

An orchestra spokeswoman says the concert is being moved due to the threat of impending storms.

Conductor Steven Reineke will direct some patriotic tunes, including Aaron Copland's "Fanfare for the Common Man," "America the Beautiful" and Randol Alan Bass' "A New Birth of Freedom. The concert will also feature some Broadway favorites, including songs from "The King and I," "South Pacific," "Wicked" and "Les Miserables."
