Suspicious Death Probed On Md. Eastern Shore

EAST NEW MARKET, Md. (AP) -- Maryland State Police say they're investigating the suspicious death of an unidentified person whose decomposed remains were found in a shallow grave in Dorchester County.

Police say a hunter with a crop-damage permit found the remains Sunday in the woods near a soybean field in the rural community of East New Market.

Investigators believe the person may have been dead less than six months.

They say the remains have been sent to state medical examiner's office in Baltimore for determination of gender, age, identity and cause and manner of death.

The remains were found at a property on Red Hill Road, about a quarter-mile west of Linkwood Road.

Investigators have asked police departments throughout the region to check for reports of missing persons.
