Suspect Wanted After Beating And Robbing Woman In The Fells Point Area

BALTIMORE (WJZ) -- A woman was beaten and then robbed over the weekend after a night out with friends in Baltimore City. It happened in Upper Fells Point at about 1:30 a.m. Saturday.

Police say a man, whose image was caught on surveillance video, is wanted for brutally beating and robbing a 30-year-old woman.

"I could hear people screaming out here, but I couldn't see them because they were down on the ground behind the cars," one witness said, who tells WJZ the attack happened near his home in the 1800 block of Bank Street.

Several people in the neighborhood heard the commotion. They all rushed over to help.

"Her knees were banged up from being dragged and the back of her head was bleeding," the same witness said.

Police tell WJZ the woman was walking home from the Cat's Eye Pub in Fells Point when she was attacked. The suspect grabbed the victim by the hair and then slammed her to the ground.

"Her friend then tried to help her by stopping the assault. At which time, that suspect grabbed her purse and then ran," said Det. Donny Moses, Baltimore Police Department.

Shortly after the vicious attack, the suspect was caught on surveillance using the victim's credit card at a store a few blocks away. Cameras caught the suspect enter and then make a purchase.

"Help us identify this individual. He's somebody's son, he's somebody's brother, he's somebody's enemy," said Moses.

Detectives believe the suspect is familiar with the Fells Point area and possibly a suspect in other cases.

"Don't want to think about whoever that is... is just lurking again for the next opportunity," a witness said.

The victim remains hospitalized in serious condition.

Anyone with information should call Metro Crime Stoppers at 1-866-7LOCKUP.
