Suspect In Two Attempted Rapes Sought By Baltimore Police

BALTIMORE (WJZ) -- Police believe the attempted rapes of two women in Southeast Baltimore are related, and they are searching for one suspect in both crimes.

On Saturday, around 9:10 p.m., a woman walking in the 200 block of Central Avenue asked a male passerby for public transit information. Afterwards, he approached her, grabbed her by the neck and forced her into a nearby alley. He attempted to rape her but she was able to escape and run to a nearby business for help.

This is very similar to an incident from February, when a woman was sexually assaulted in the 200 block of South Eden Street.

In that case, detectives believe the suspect followed the victim from the subway station located at the intersection of East Baltimore Street and President Street before grabbing her and attempting to rape her. The victim was also able to escape the suspect in that case.

Anyone with information about these incidents is urged to contact the Baltimore Police Department's Sex Offense Unit, at 410-396-2076. Those who wish to remain anonymous should call the Metro Crime Stoppers tip-line, at 1-866-7-LOCKUP.
