Man, 19, Arrested In Fatal Stabbing In Silver Spring

SILVER SPRING, Md. (AP) -- Montgomery County police say they quickly arrested a 19-year-old man who's accused of killing another teenager he knew in Silver Spring.

Police say 19-year-old Mitchell Zio has been charged with second-degree murder in the fatal stabbing of 18-year-old Derik Benson.

The stabbing occurred on Wednesday afternoon at an apartment complex in the northeastern part of the county, near Calverton. Police say when officers arrived, they found Benson suffering from a stab wound. He was taken to a hospital, where he died.

Police say they found Zio as he was trying to flee. Police say he had a bloody knife with him and blood on his person.

Police say Zio and Benson knew each other, but they haven't detailed a possible motive.
