Suspect Arrested After Beating Man To Death, Setting His Body On Fire

BALTIMORE (WJZ) -- A man accused of beating another man to death and then setting his body on fire is arrested.

Lawrence Coverdale, 43, faces several charges, including first-degree murder.

Police say Coverdale was involved in an altercation with 54-year-old Nathaniel Quarterman.

It happened along the 4200 block of Shamrock Avenue in East Baltimore.

Quarterman was beaten to death during the incident. Coverdale then dragged his body outside and set it on fire.

Police say Coverdale also assaulted a witness at the scene.
