Sunday Sinkhole Causes Sewage Problems

NORTH LAUREL, Md. (WJZ) -- A sinkhole Sunday evening is now causing sewage problems in North Laurel.

According to Howard County Health Department, this sinkhole crushed a sewer line near Stansfield and Route 95.

The sewage overflow was seen around the Rocky Gorge Reservoir Sunday.
Howard County Health Department has confirmed that this sewage overflow will not impact the area's water supply.

The Bureau of Utilities is now working to repair the broken sewage line.

Signs have been posted throughout the immediate area about the sewage overflow.

Maryland Department of the Environment will continue to monitor and update the community until all repairs are completed.
