Student Confesses To Making Shooting Threat On Social Media

BERLIN, Md. (WJZ) -- Authorities in Worcester County say they've identified a 9th grade student who made a post on social media suggesting a possible school shooting at Stephen Decatur High School.

Police say back on September 28, an unknown person made the post on social media-- and consequentially, school activities were delayed and rearranged the following day. Additionally, there was an increase in law enforcement personnel brought into school to ensure the safety of the students.

On Wednesday, October 12, 2016 Detectives from the Worcester County Bureau of Investigations along with the county Board of Education were able to identify the student, a juvenile, responsible for the post. The student was interviewed with a parents and school staff present where he confessed to making the post and has been charged with Disruption of School Activities.
