Steve Davis: NFL Needs To Change Replay Rules

I am sometimes amazed about either the stubbornness or the idiocy of people in charge. I can't decided which is in play here for the NFL.

Coaches would like to be able to challenge penalties.

We saw in the Detroit-Dallas game it would dramatically changed one play, and maybe the game. Why won't the league do it? Don't tell me it's because the games will go on forever. Just put it under the current system.

You get 2 challenges, 3 if you're right on the first two. If you want to challenge a catch or a spot or a penalty, who cares? It takes the same amount of time. The whole point is that you want to get it right, and you look foolish when everybody watching on TV knows the refs screwed up.

That's what happened in Dallas. It has happened plenty of time in other games, including Ravens games.

If the NFL doesn't change this rule, they are either being obstinate or dumb, or, as the league has shown it is capable of being, both.
